The Moonsparrow Collection is comprised of a tapestry of Tall Tales, Myth and Magic. This compilation of tales is the best of Ms. Wolfe’s original published and unpublished Short Stories, and includes the stories that she has introduced at local public writing events and festivals. The subject matter ranges from: A woman who turns a small town on its ear, to: a Magical midnight concert in the woods. It is a light journey into a magical world when anything can happen, and usually does

Excerpt from The Moonsparrow Collection

A Beltane Tale

However, if she were really truthful with herself, she knew this was about more than just singing with him. His voice enchanted her, the simplicity of him singing in the woods, pouring his heart out with each word, set up a longing in her for more than just singing with him. That was the true reason she had not approached him.
This Beltane gathering conjured up all kinds of ideas in her head. She knew Beltane was a time of romance, fertility and new beginnings and that many a relationship had it’s not so humble beginnings at this time of year. She was just not quite ready for all the feelings this gathering had conjured up in her. She simply was not quite ready yet, at least that’s what she told herself.

Truck Stop Virgin

Brandy was quite a looker, the nearest thing to a sin in an unmarried woman, at least the women think so. Men are a bit more forgiving about that particular fault. Even so, everyone could tell just by looking at Brandy that this gal was trouble!

Mark U Rye

This does not have any dragons or sword and sorcery, as a matter of fact it is more of a tall tale, but I think you just might recognize the main character, even if he is in disguise….. his name is the clue….

His name was Mark Rye, well actually, he would introduce himself far more formally then his deeply creased jeans would have suggested. Mark U. Rye, he would grin, with a grin that sticks to you like warm oatmeal swallowed on an extra cold day. The U. was for Ulysses, a name he was extremely proud of and never did he have the hesitation that some folks have about their middle, and somewhat old fashioned names.

Mark called himself a communicator, although his busted old guitar hardly seemed to command that sort of respectability, at least not at first sight. But oh, that boy could make it sing with nine tongues and all of them golden!

Out Now- Jude- the fantastic second book in the popular The Fallen Series, is now available!

It’s been a long wait over the past year, but we can finally come down off our tenterhooks and breathe a sigh of relief. Jude, the second of The Fallen Series, is here! Pick it up and see where Jude’s journey takes us!

Six angels once sat at the right hand of The Almighty, but an ill-fated decision cast them out of Heaven. Now they serve Him on Earth, slaying demons for their redemption. They are…The Fallen.

“Remember, angel, all ways in the end return to Me.”

Jude knows pain. He feels it with every inhale and exhale of breath. It is a constant on his mind and on his skin; a reminder of the depth of his disobedience. And his cruelty. With his fall from grace, he walks the Earth with his brothers, their steps set on a shadowed path to redemption, killing demons in His name. The angel of Vengeance may not have his wings, but he still burns.

Coriander Rhodes finds things. The intrepid little archaeologist sniffs out relics buried for eternity with the determination of a bloodhound and the arrogance of the devil. Her brash nature and bold tongue keep the big angel on his toes, inflaming and infuriating him at the same time.

When danger strikes at the heart of the angels’ inner circle, Jude discovers he is faced with a task far greater than he has ever known. The light must be protected at all costs, in all of its forms. The ultimate evil has a plan, and with the most innocent among them at stake, Jude knows he’ll finally have to face his sins and meet the pain in his soul dead on. Coriander’s touch is the only thing that soothes, but is it enough to make him whole? Can she help him work through the pain long enough to remember his faith, or will he be forever…fallen?

Jude in all his glory!

Jude stared at the blinding white of the bathroom tiles, gleaming back at him with their pristine cleanliness. There was a reason he was here, a reason he stood at the threshold of the doorway with the small blade in his hand. It was a steely and dangerous little thing he’d nicked from Elijah as soon as they got here. He missed the obsidian dagger. He hadn’t realized how much. The Almighty had seen fit to take it and transform it into a demon-killing sword that belonged in the hands of Lucius. Now it was gone. Much like its previous owner, lost to him in every way. Coriander belonged to the dark-haired Alex and the little girl. He didn’t belong to anyone.

The tremor started in his foot and worked its way up his leg, urging him to take the step into the bathroom, but he could not make it move. His vision warped and tunneled outward, and the bathroom rippled, beckoning him to breach the door jamb. Seeing her walk through the door had ripped open every wound he thought had healed. And even though she had made it perfectly clear she wanted nothing to do with him when she left, there was the tiny, hidden part of him that held on to the memory of his lips on hers. Because there had been no pain.

Everything hurt. All the time. Touch was agony. But when his lips met hers, the expected jolt never came. She had been hot and sweet, and the release from the pain had been instant, snuffed out like a candle. And when she shot him, it all came back. If he were honest with himself, he could admit to being grateful for the slug to the leg. He was so used to the constant and ever-present ache in his body and bones, and the sudden reprieve at Coriander’s kiss had thrown him for a loop. The gunshot simply grounded him.

Now she was back in his life, all guns and fire and fierce beauty, with a boyfriend and kid in tow. And here he was, back in this never-ending ritual of pleasure-pain that kept him in a perpetual vacillation between guilt and despair.

No. He was done with this. Never again.

Jude dropped the blade to clatter on the tile floor of the bathroom and turned on his heel. There were other ways to deal with this problem. It was time to drink.

Commercial Interuptus-Please! ( A Seasonal Rant)

Commercial interruptus- please!
Is anyone else  both flabbergasted and appalled by the use of charming, beautiful and beloved Christmas Carols being used to  promote mindless buying of goods? Let’s go Caroling turns into  lets go sales hunting? Really? Is this  the character that our Country has dumbed down to? Is anyone enjoying  seeing timeless classic carols turned into jingles? (Please excuse the pun.)
I am increasingly disheartened by the  marketing industry’s crass content but this is low  even for them. Mute button at the ready I  turn off the sound of these terminally cheerful about greed commercials and do something useful, like take out the garbage.   Greed is good is outdated and frankly I am sick and tired of  the  idea that consumers are mindless idiots ready to  be cajoled into whatever they put into our brains that we need. I need  to buy smarter products that save the  planet, save animals and  create health for society, so  if  the advertising wizards want  my attention, do not  treat me like an idiot, nor ransack timeless favorite songs to get my attention. Get real. Products that are obsolete before they are  sold to the public, gadgets that  are  produced to fail in a short amount of time and  goods that are  built by slave labor, is doing a great disservice to the planet and the public. Let’s have a commercial about that. Until commercials get real, the mute button is  my best friend. Maybe the advertisers will wake up  a year smarter in 2014, there is always hope.   Until then Buyer be aware!!!

Texting- The Next Evolutionary Step in The English Language

Is Texting- The “New” English?
(Saturday morning Ponderings by Carolyn Wolfe)
In school most of us are taught to read the Sonnets or plays of Shakespeare. Olde English  can be difficult for us to follow, though beautiful to read and some  of the words, such as Thee and Thou, have fallen from our vocabulary altogether. As I was pondering this, I thought about how our own language is evolving. Many people now do not write emails or texts in full sentences, reverting to  U R ♥ or LOL, or simply a smiley face! The beautiful and elegant turn of phrase that use to be the hallmark of a writer, and defined the times; such as the works of Jane Austin, or even the darker imagery of the Master of Horror- Edgar Allen Poe, has long since fallen to the wayside. Now even our far less elegant way of speaking and writing, is giving way to  acronym’s, abbreviated sentences and words, or simply pictures. I wonder if this written and verbal shortcutting of our language and the way that we communicate with each other will affect how we think? Could this type of communication be shortening our already shortened attention span? Is  this really the next step in the evolution of the English Language? Will we start speaking to each in an abbreviated manner as well? Is the full sentence forever doomed? Being a writer, and loving words the way I do- I certainly hope not!
What say you? I would love to hear  how you feel about this subject!
